A college degree (even a liberal arts degree) used to pay for itself many times over. Now you're lucky if you can break even. My advice to young kids is to get something tangible first (using the community college and vocational/technical systems as necessary - nursing, recreation, computers, pharmacy tech, electrical, medical assisting, physical therapy assisting, early childhood ed, truck-driving, etc., etc.) and THEN go back to college later if you choose to. That way you've at least got some money coming in and a much better sense of cost-benefit analysis.
